The Challenge

Managing crowd density at major events and venues is critical for public safety. Existing monitoring methods relied on CCTV and manual headcounts β€” reactive rather than proactive. By the time dangerous density levels were spotted, the situation was already escalating.

CRIB (Crowd Response iBeacon), funded by the Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA), set out to build a real-time crowd monitoring system using iBeacon technology that could detect dangerous density levels before they become incidents β€” shifting crowd safety from reactive to predictive.

The Solution

Vindico developed the CRIB crowd monitoring platform β€” a complete system from sensor network to control room dashboard, turning raw Bluetooth Low Energy signals into actionable crowd safety intelligence.
