When COVID-19 forced the suspension of community rugby in Wales, the Welsh Rugby Union needed a way to safely restart grassroots matches. Every player, coach, and referee had to complete health screening before stepping onto the pitch, and contact tracing had to be maintained.
Paper-based systems were too slow and unreliable for the scale of Welsh community rugby — hundreds of clubs, thousands of players. The WRU needed a digital solution that could be deployed rapidly, work reliably across rural Wales, and give administrators real-time visibility of compliance across the entire community game.
Vindico deployed SWAPP Lite — a streamlined version of their workplace safety platform adapted specifically for sport. The system was designed to be simple enough for every club to adopt, yet robust enough to satisfy governing body requirements.
